1. About these terms
These terms apply when Silverstone Cerakote Ltd ("we", "us") carries out coating work for you. We're a company registered in England and Wales (number 14594407, VAT number GB 432 6339 05), with our registered office and workshop at Unit 22, Burcote Wood Business Centre, Wood Burcote, Towcester, Northamptonshire, NN12 8TA. You can contact us at contact@silverstonecerakote.co.uk or through your customer account.
Some terms apply differently depending on whether you're a consumer (an individual buying for yourself, not for a business) or a business. Where that's the case, we say so. If you're a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.
2. What we do
We apply Cerakote and similar coatings to metal and composite parts, including preparation, masking, blasting, coating, curing and inspection. We don't work on firearms or firearm components. We can refuse any job, for example if a part isn't suitable to coat safely.
3. Estimates and quotes
- Online estimates are calculated automatically from your file or photo and are a guide only. They are not an offer.
- A quote is our offer to do the work at the price shown. Unless it says otherwise, it's valid for 30 days.
- Prices are in pounds sterling. Prices for consumers include VAT. Business quotes may show prices excluding VAT, with VAT added on the invoice.
- We price from what you tell us and send us. If your parts arrive different from what was quoted (bigger, more parts, existing coatings, oil or sealant), we'll tell you the revised price before doing any extra work. You can accept it, or ask for your parts back and get a refund less any return delivery cost.
- Colours and finishes shown on screen, including in the Colour Room, are visualisations. Real finishes vary with light, material and part shape. If the exact shade matters, ask us for a physical sample before you order.
4. Accepting a quote and paying
- You accept a quote by confirming it online or in writing. The contract is made when we confirm your order.
- Every order is paid in full before we start work. If you check out online without an account, you pay by card when you accept. If you have an account, we'll issue a pro forma invoice, which you can pay by card or by bank transfer.
- We don't accept cash, and we don't offer credit or pay-later terms.
- Your job goes into our schedule once your payment has cleared. A bank transfer can take up to one working day to arrive.
- If we agree extra work with you after you've ordered, we'll invoice it separately and it must be paid before your parts are returned.
5. Sending us your parts
- We'll give you sending instructions and an order reference when you order. Please put the reference on, or inside, every box.
- Parts must be fully disassembled and clean, with no oil, grease, sealant or dirt, unless we've agreed to do this for you. We may charge for any extra cleaning or preparation needed, and will tell you first.
- Pack parts so they can't move or touch each other. Take off anything that mustn't be blasted or coated, or tell us about it in your order.
- You're responsible for your parts until they reach us. For valuable or irreplaceable parts, use a tracked and insured service.
- We check parts when they arrive and tell you if anything is damaged, missing or different from your order.
6. While your parts are with us
We take reasonable care of your parts and are responsible for loss or damage we cause. Coating involves blasting and oven curing. We'll tell you before starting if we think a part is at risk, for example thin or soft material, bonded or pressed-in components, or existing damage.
7. Getting your parts back
- You choose collection or return delivery when you order. Return delivery costs are shown in your quote or order.
- If we arrange the courier, we're responsible for your parts until they're delivered to the address you gave us. For businesses, our responsibility in transit is limited to what the courier's cover pays out, unless you ask us to arrange extra cover.
- If you arrange your own courier or collect, responsibility passes to you when the parts are handed over.
- If you don't collect your parts or give us delivery details within 30 days of us telling you they're ready, we may charge reasonable storage. If they're still uncollected after 3 months, we'll write to you, and if you still don't respond we may dispose of them as the law allows.
8. Turnaround
We'll give you an estimated completion date when you order. It depends on our workload, the parts and curing times, so it isn't guaranteed. We'll tell you if there's a delay. If you're a consumer and the delay becomes unreasonable, you can cancel and get a refund for any work not yet done.
9. Your right to cancel (consumers)
If you're a consumer and you order online, by email or by phone, you can cancel within 14 days of your order being confirmed, without giving a reason.
- If you ask us to start work within those 14 days, you'll pay for work already done when you cancel. Once the work is complete, you can no longer cancel.
- To cancel, email contact@silverstonecerakote.co.uk or use your account, giving your order reference. You can use the model cancellation form, but you don't have to.
- We'll refund you within 14 days of your cancellation, to the payment method you used, less the value of any work done and any return delivery costs.
10. Cancelling (businesses)
A business can cancel an order before work starts and get a full refund, less any delivery costs we've already paid. Once work has started, the order can't be cancelled.
11. If something isn't right
- We inspect every part before it leaves us. Please check your parts as soon as you receive them and tell us about any problem within 7 days, with photos. This helps us put it right quickly.
- Coatings are applied by hand. Small variations in texture or appearance that don't affect the function or overall look are normal, and aren't defects.
- If we haven't done the work with reasonable care and skill, we'll redo it at no cost. If that isn't possible, or doesn't fix the problem, we'll give you a fair price reduction or refund.
- We're not responsible for wear or damage caused by misuse, impact, chemicals, temperatures above the coating's rating, or poor maintenance.
- If you're a consumer, the law gives you rights if our service isn't carried out with reasonable care and skill. Nothing here limits those rights, and they still apply if you tell us after 7 days.
12. Our responsibility to you
- We don't limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
- Consumers: we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for business losses.
- Businesses: our total liability for any order is limited to the price paid for that order, plus the replacement value of any part we lose or damage through our negligence. We're not liable for loss of profit, loss of use, business interruption or any indirect loss.
13. Your artwork and logos
If you ask us to apply text, a logo or artwork, you confirm you have the right to use it. You keep ownership of it. We use it only to do your job.
14. Photos of your work
We photograph parts for our quality records. We'll only use photos of your parts in our marketing, such as on our website or social media, if you agree. You can say no without it affecting your order.
15. Complaints
If you're not happy, email contact@silverstonecerakote.co.uk. Our complaints policy explains how we handle it and how long it takes.
16. Other terms
- We use your personal data as set out in our privacy notice.
- If a court decides part of these terms isn't valid, the rest still applies.
- We may update these terms. The version shown when you accepted your quote applies to that order.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will deal with any dispute. If you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
